Advantageous embodiments of the invention are the subject matter of the dependent claims. The invention is based on providing a pile provided with a new kind of mountain shoe. The mountain shoe comprises a bottom plate, a tip pin and stiffening plates extending from the bottom plate. In accordance with the invention, the tip pin of the pile's mountain shoe does not extend all the way to the base plate, but remains at a distance X from it. In other words, the lower surface of the base plate is at a distance X from the upper surface of the tip pin. Two or more stiffening plates have been mounted between the tip pin and the bottom plate. The purpose of the stiffening plates is to transfer loads and loads evenly on the bottom plate and thereby on the pile pipe. The stiffening plates are mounted to extend between the bottom plate and the tip pin to attach the tip pin to the bottom plate, so that between the lower surface of the bottom plate and the upper surface of the tip pin becomes an empty space or an empty space. Figure 2 shows a part of a pile according to the present invention, in particular a steel pile, and a mountain shoe 5 for a pile according to an embodiment of the invention. The rocker shoe 5 comprises a tip pin 2, a bottom plate 3 and stiffening plates 4. According to Figure 2, the tip pin 2 of the pile does not extend all the way to the bottom plate 3. The upper surface 8 of the tip pin 2 is at a distance X from the lower surface 3 of the bottom plate 3. The distance X is preferably about 1/3 of the diameter of the pile. Large piles have a diameter of about 600-1200 mm, so X is preferably 200-400 mm. Between the tip pin 2 and the bottom plate 3, two or more stiffening plates 4 have been mounted in accordance with Figure 2.
